Description
A beautifully-situated headland of short walls and slabs up to 7m. Good solid compact rock with reasonable landings, though a bouldering mat wouldn't be a bad idea.
Note: The rock at Pundsar is actually an epidote seyenite. Seyenite is essentially a granite without quartz. Epidote is a dark green mineral indicating a degree of metamorphism. That said, the rock at Pundsar can be treated by climbers as a granite.
Access
Take the B9074 from Scalloway to Burra and drive to Hamnavoe. In Hamnavoe take the sharp left turn just before the square. Park at the end of this road. Pundsar is the headland to the SW. Walk W between sheds, through gate, across meadows & over stiles to hit the coastline then walk S to arrive at Black Wall. The Saltire is about 25m further S.
