The short story of a new crag

Papa Stour

Papa Stour was first climbed by a resident in 2004/5, with most routes at Brei Geo. Most routes were put up by solo self-belay and so have never had a proper trad ascent. Other areas have been developed by visiting climbers over the years. Sea stacks have also been climbed around here and are recorded in the stacks section of the site. Local climbers have revisited the crags and added more routes and there is a fair amount of potential still on the island. It's also a lovely place to spend a weekend.

Papa Stour can be reached by plane, ferry or kayak! In summer it is possible to make a day trip, but a weekend would be a better idea. There is self-catering accommodation on the island or you can camp at the ferry terminal which has a heated waiting room, hot water and toilets. The ferry takes cars but there's really no need to bring one. Crag access is described below.

Sorry but you need to be logged in to the site to see routes and problems at crags. Of course it costs nothing to register and you’ll be able to see all! Thanks.
