New Guidebook for Shetland

It’s been quiet on the site this summer but I’ve been busy, not necessarily climbing all that much but what started out as printing off a few miniguides turned into writing and designing Shetland’s first dedicated climbing guidebook!

It has been a long road to get to this point, started by Paul about 10 years ago when he realised that a guide was needed. The book stalled several times and ended up as miniguides and the formation of this website. However it was still always the plan and I’m pleased to say it is now written and currently being proof-read before being sent to the printers in a few weeks time.

The book will feature pretty much all of the climbing recorded on this site, so over 50 crags, stacks and bouldering venues, and over 800 routes in total. There are full colour topos for the majority of the crags and plenty of photos for inspiration.

As it is such a niche book it is very hard to know print numbers so to help, I’ve decided to offer the book for pre-order at a massive discount to the retail price. The cut-off for these pre-orders will be mid August with the first books being sent out in early September. There is even more discount if you have previously bought the miniguides from the website.

Take a look at the guidebook page to preview some pages of the book and to pre-order by Paypal.

We’ll be having a book launch in September in Shetland and I’ll post up about that nearer the time.
