Frozen in Time – Black Watch in March

Ross Jones and Al filmed this short clip of Paul and I having a minor epic on Black Watch at the Eshaness Lighthouse, in March last year. We had permission, and plans, to attempt a 180m new route on the island of Noss the following week but neither of us had climbed anything for at least 6 months – so we thought some practice was in order!

Needless to say the temperatures were not ideal, especially when the mist rolled in; the rock was dripping; and Paul was – quite literally – approaching hypothermia by the time I topped out.

It makes for a great story!
