New Site Features

Well the site’s been really active over the past few weeks, especially our Facebook page. It’s spurred me on to improving the site and adding some new features and content:

Maps

We’ve switched the maps on the index pages too Google Maps. You can filter venue types (trad, sea stack etc), preview a crag description and its all generally a bit tidier than before. Other index pages now list crags under different areas of Shetland; North, West etc, which makes it much quicker to get to the right place, so you don’t have to use the map every time.

Editing Crags

Being able to edit crags and routes was always central to the idea of the site. The original method was ok, but a bit tricky. We’re trialling a new method, where you literally edit the page on screen, no admin panel or anything. It’s pretty slick but as its so easy to use,we’ve limited it to only a few users (people I recognise by their username). If you’re not one of them it will tell you that you don’t have permission on the crag pages. All you need to do is contact us and we’ll upgrade your account straight away. Please try it out and let us know what you think by adding a comment to here.

Sea Stacks

To finish off, we’re starting to fill in the gaps on the site. This includes the sea stacks. There are only a few so far, but let us know if you have any to add. We’ll create the page, then you can add all the info. Simple!

Thanks for your help adding to and developing the site and as spring comes around (not far away) we hope the site will be even more useful for everyone.
